Denis Rufin opened "The College Inn" at 3016
S. Carrollton Avenue in 1933. His sons Denis Jr., Albert and Emile kept the place going until it was sold in 2003 to John
Blancher, owner of Rock 'n Bowl. It was the only restaurant in New Orleans known for serving chicken fried steak.
After
Hurricane Katrina, the original building was demolished. The restaurant moved to the building next-door.
