Built in 1806 on the corner of Bourbon Street and Bienville,
it was orignally used by an improrting business. "Aleix's Coffee House" opened on the ground floor in 1815.
The name changed in 1874 when Cayetano Ferrer created the Absinthe House Frappe there and so it was known as "The
Absinthe Room". The original absinthe fountains remain on the bar today.
