1977 - 1978

The student body elected to name the horse (included in John Chase's rendition of the school logo) of mascot Rufus.  The winner was "Rumpus".

In wrestling at the state tournament placing 3rd were Charles Leblanc (98 pounds) and Bobby Dale (185 pounds).  Todd Somonaux (126 pounds) took the 4th place honor.  Placing 5th were Keith Ural (138 pounds), Greg Stacy (145 pounds) and Mike Dale at 167 pounds.

 

The Genesian Players produced Splendor In The Grass, Our Little Nell And The City Slicker, The Ugly Duckling (Directed by Bob Roso), The Stolen Prince (Speech II Students) and Kids (written by Chuck Guajardo) during the academic year.

Basketball

Raiders won the state championships beating  Fair Park, 83-64, in the Class AAAA final.  Wade Blundell broke the state single-game scoring record with 58 points.
